anime is a growing culture not only in Japan but across the globe. to those who are unaware(still?),anime is a style of Japanese tv and film animation. and it is awesome!!!

The popularity of anime however is synonymous with the popularity of the big four. the big four is an exclusive group of the 4 longest running shounen series.

although many in the anime community argue that these are not he best and are way too overhyped.

it is without a doubt that these 4 shows are the most popular shows in the history of anime . and the world of anime would certainly not be whee it is today if it weren't for these masterpieces that have elevated the anime world to where it is today.

the big four are as follows:

Naruto

probably the most popular anime with western audiences. Naruto follows the adventures of a young menacing ninja and his friends as they embark on some of the greatest journeys of their lives. and Naruto a neglected boy who wishes to be accepted by his people and dreams to be hokage(the leader of the village).
This anime takes you on a ride you'll never forget.  As you watch the characters develop from weak children to mature and responsible shinobi that are strong enough to protect their village from even the strongest of threats.

Bleach

bleach follows the story of ichigo kurosaki, a high school student whose life is turned upside down as he meets a soul reaper, rukia kuchiki, and is granted an enormous power. he then goes around protecting his city from hollows(evil souls), and an encounter with rukias brother leads him down a path that results in a war the likes of which he or this has never seen.

fairy tail

Fairy tail follows the story of natsu dragneel and his friends in the prestigious, awesome and totally fun filled guild named fairy tail. in a world where magic is common and mages are the most powerful beings on the planet, natsu and his friends embark on ridiculous adventures across the country, while making friends and diminishing threats along the way.

An extremely fun filled ride and one of the greatest anime you will ever see. with friendship, comedy and some of the most kickass action sequences in anime history. This show will rock you to your core and make you feel emotions you never knew existed.

one piece

this is it . this is the greatest show in the big four and arguably the best show in all of anime.it has everything from kickass action, friendship, adventure, and some of the best storylines you've ever seen. this anime will make you cry buckets, it will break your heart. but it will also be one of the most fun experiences you've ever had with comedy, friendship (and of course nami's boobs). 

revolving around a pirate who embarks on the sea in search of finding the one piece (the greatest treasure), get ready to embark on a journey beyond your wildest imaginations.
